Limited options available currently for small acreage in Gillespie County

Suppose you just want a few acres in the country.  The minimum number of acres that can currently be subdivided according to county subdivision rules is three acres.  But that property must have adequate dimensions for a well which must be no more than 75 feet from the property line.

There are a few properties less than three acres “grandfathered in” in Gillespie County which are sometimes available.  Listed in the Multiple Listing Service as of March 26, 2009, are 14 residential properties less than three acres ranging in price from $162,500 to $399,000.

There are currently no vacant land listings less than three acres outside rural subdivisions.  The two smallest acreage listings available are 3 acres for $110,000 and 3.15 acres for $94,500.
